A Story of Reconnection
In the spring of 2023, my life was in a transitional phase. I was juggling so much—my career, parenting, and my own self-expectations—and I realized I needed grounding. I needed to reconnect with myself, to pause and reflect on my values and internal landscape. That’s when I decided to take my own journaling challenge, which eventually became my book, “455”. One evening, I grabbed my journal, went outside, and wrote a single word: “Breathe.” That simple act was a turning point. Each day, I committed to writing, even if it was just a word or a short reflection. I found myself sitting in my backyard, letting the cool grass beneath my feet anchor me, feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin.
Slowly, those moments of journaling and connection became my sanctuary. I started to see patterns, rediscover my values, and tap into my core truths. It wasn’t about fixing everything at once; it was about showing up for myself daily in small, meaningful ways. I created the journaling challenge not just for myself, but for others, knowing that a vulnerable space for self-reflection could benefit the masses. We are better together, and we are in this thing together.
Why Reconnection Matters
Reconnection is about more than finding calm; it’s about rediscovering your strength, your truth, and your center. When you reconnect with yourself, you:
● Respond to life instead of reacting.
● Cultivate clarity and resilience in the face of challenges.
● Deepen relationships by first understanding your own needs.
In a world that’s constantly pulling us outward, reconnection brings us back home to ourselves.
Practices to Reconnect
- Pause and Reflect
Take 30 seconds to stop and ask yourself: How am I feeling? What do I need right now?
2. Journaling for Clarity
Write without judgment. Some days, it might just be a word, like “overwhelmed,” or a sentence about your day. The act of writing creates space for awareness and reflection.
Tip: Use “455” as your guide. The prompts encourage vulnerability and exploration, helping you dive deeper into your inner world.
3. Grounding in Nature
Walk barefoot on grass, sit under a tree, or simply feel the sun on your skin. Nature has a powerful way of centering us and bringing us into the present moment.
